Hooking Up Your Gaming Console to Your Big
Screen TV
To get the most out of your gaming console, you want to get the best picture, right? Of course! Just imagine how awesome it will be to play your favorite game on a big, crisp, shiny new HDTV! Depending on your console, this could be really easy to do.
The easiest console to hook up fast is the PlayStation 3. The PS3 comes with an HDMI output. It can handle up to 1080p, and even has a BlueRay DVD drive that upconverts your DVDs and games. Awesome. For the XBox 360, things can be just as easy or little more involved. If you have the Elite or the Arcade, you can hook your console to your HDTV with an HDMI cable, just like the PS3. If you have the Core system, you can connect to your HDTV with a component video adapter cable. Basically, on one end it is an HDMI and the other are video (r,y,w,g).
The Wii is the only console that doesn't have High Definition capabilities. You can still connect it to your HDTV with a component video adapter cable, like the XBox Core system. The picture still looks pretty nice, at 480p. The picture is smooth, but some people complain that it is a bit blurry or has rough edges. These effects are much more noticable on the larger sizes from 42 to 53 inches. On the smaller to midsize HDTVs there is no noticable difference in the picture.
Enjoy the brand new experience of playing your favorite video games...in HD!
