Affordable Big Screen TV Brands for Those on a Budget.

If you just don't have the kind of cash to purchase an expensive HDTV, there are some lower end options that you can consider. Though this doesn't apply to all lower end brands, be wary of extremely inexpensive HDTVs.

Especially cheap LCD TVs. To keep the lower end TVs cheap, manufacturers often skimp on the LED backlight that makes the LCD look so nice. If the light source wears out, your TV is done for.

So, you can skimp and save as long as you know what to skimp on.

Vizio is one of the most popular low end HDTV brands. They do have higher end models, but overall they go for value. The larger low end models go for about 600 bucks, which in HDTV terms...is pretty darn cheap. The smaller sizes of the TVs are half that. They don't skimp on the LED light source, so you know the TV will last you for quite some time. The picture is still sharp and crisp. Vizio is exceptional in that they include HD tuners in their TVs, so you don't have to buy one seperately or even get an HD service if you don't want to. You will still get your local channels, but now they will be in HD!

Although not typically known for their low end models, Samsung is working with the available technology to make the best low end HDTVs you can find. While only recently announced, the new CHEAP Samsung HDTVs will rival most found on the market now. Unfortunately, there are no reviews for them yet so there is no way to know exactly what they skimped on to make the TVs so much cheaper.

Olevia brand HDTVs are easier on the wallet and compare very well against higher end brands. It seems the only thing that Olevia skimped on was the space factor. The Olevia HDTVs are thicker than most flat panel TVs, but that is where the savings come in. They are still not nearly as thick as your traditional TV set, merely a bit thicker than the ultra slim HDTVs of today. So, if you can compomise a few inches, the Olevia brand HDTVs are a fabulous bargain. Some models also come with an ATSC tuner to pick up digital signals and upconvert to HD very nicely.

So, if you are willing to make a concession or two, the low end HDTVs might be just what you are looking for.
